Opportunities and Information

Join Home & School

Are you interested in what's happening at St. Francis Xavier School? Would you like to get involved in a big way by being an event or fundraiser chairperson? Or, are you looking to just learn more? We have the place for you no matter what your involvement level would be. Join us for 1 meeting to all of them throughout the year. We are happy to have you! (We also just might have a LOT of FUN!)

Home Room Parents

Our Home Room Parents provide one of the most valuable tools to our teachers - the time and attention you put in to making their lives just a little easier. Home Room Parents help teachers throughout the year with classroom events, communicating with classroom parents, and helping to organize appreciation for the teachers at times like Christmas, teacher appreciation week, or any other time that seems fitting.

Front Porch Forum Poster

From time to time we ask parents to post announcements about St. Francis Xavier in their local Front Porch Forum.

If you are willing to do this in your community, please sign up.

Pumpkins for (school) Programs

Thanks to the generous donation of an SFX community member, SFX Home & School will be selling pumpkins.  Proceeds from the sales will benefit the Students at St. Francis Xavier School and will be used to purchase items that support the outdoor classroom, the playground, the school community, the library, etc. Volunteer with us to help sell pumpkins!

Trunk-or-Treat

Students and Parents enjoy dressing up! And this year, prizes will be awarded for best trunk! If you have a spooky trunk, sign up!

To make this event successful we need volunteers to help plan the event, adults willing to run game stations, and adults willing to decorate their cars and participate in the Trunk-or-Treat.

Craft Fair

It is a great community event that features wonderful crafts, a huge raffle table, and a bake sale full of homemade pies and other baked goods. This fundraiser generates over $6,000 and can't be done without the help of our volunteers.

We have LOTS of volunteering opportunities to choose from both before the Craft Fair and during the Craft Fair itself. You can work just a couple of hours or all day. Any help is greatly appreciated.

We are also looking for someone(s) willing to shadow the event this year and take on the organization of the craft fair next year.

Craft Fair Baker

We need pies and other baked goods/fudge donations! Sign up below by clicking the pies or baked good/fudge buttons!
Please drop off pies on Friday, November 17th. Pies can be dropped off during school hours or between 5:00 pm and 7:15 pm. During school hours, pies can be left in the cooler in the Uniform Storage room. Please label all pies. Don't forget - beautiful packaging helps sell your pies!

Baked Goods/Fudge - Baked goods can be dropped off during school hours or between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm on Friday, November 17th. During school hours, baked goods can be left in the cooler in the Uniform Storage room. Please label all baked goods. Don't forget - beautiful packaging helps sell your baked goods!

Christmas Pageant

We are hopeful that the Christmas Pageant will again be held on Wednesday, December 15th at Rice Memorial High School. This school-wide celebration is always a poignant reminder of the true meaning of Christmas. All students from Pre-k through 8th grade participate to some degree. Parents, siblings, family, and friends are welcome to this celebration. Unless otherwise instructed, students will wear their Mass uniforms.

We need volunteers to help organize costumes and props before the pageant, help students get into their costumes the night of the pageant and someone to transport props from SFX to Rice the morning of the pageant.

Book Fair - Dec.

The Home and School Association hosts two week-long Scholastic Book Fairs each school year - one in December and one in March. Students participate in the book fair with their classes during the day at assigned class times. Additionally, there are times in which the book fair is open beyond school dismissal for families to shop.

We do need volunteers to help with sales during classroom times and the late afternoon/early evening times as well.

The money raised from the Scholastic Book Fairs is converted into "Scholastic Dollars" and used to purchase needed equipment for our library and classrooms. Dates: December 4 -  December 8.

2024 Calcutta

This is the Home and School's largest fundraiser.

Volunteers are needed to help the committee in pulling off the different activities on the evening of the event on Friday, February 9, 2024.

If you are planning to attend this great event, please consider volunteering for a particular task.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teachers play a vital role in our children's development and educational success. Teacher Appreciation Week is a great way to show them how much we care.

Donations are needed in a few spots on this sign up to help make this week a success.  Additionally,  families will be asked to bring flowers to teachers and a small gift (note, gift card, treat, etc) of appreciation (please see email from Home & School for more information).

On Tuesday, Home & School will be sponsoring a lunch for teachers, staff, and administrators.  If you are able to donate chips or cookies or fruit for lunch that day, please sign up and deliver to the front desk on Tuesday (5/14) at Morning Drop Off.

On Wednesday, if you are able to donate a homemade sweet treat - cookies, brownies, granola, fruit, etc. - please sign up.  Homemade desserts should be delivered to the front desk on Wednesday (5/15) at Morning Drop Off.

Fun Day 2024

Join the end-of-year festivities by participating in Fun Day. Students are divided into mixed-age groups and play games for most of the morning. Each student is given a special t-shirt provided by the Home & School Association. Following the games is a delicious BBQ.

SFX Alumni & Friends are needed to help with the game stations. (If you are a recent SFX Alum or SFX Friend, please sign up in the SFX Alum & Friends spots).

Parents/Guardians are needed to help setup, serve, and cleanup after the BBQ,  help with snack stations, and to help with the game stations. (If you are a parent/guardian, please sign up in the Parent/Guardian spots).

If you are able to help set up tables/chairs/canopies (8:30am-10am) as well as set up and serve lunch and take down tables/chairs/canopies (10am-12:30pm), please feel free to sign up under both slots. If signing up to bake a dessert or to donate a pre-packaged dessert, please list the type of dessert you'll be bringing.
